Get vaccinated

We confirm details, answer questions, and give the flu jab in a private room. Children usually get the nasal spray if suitable.

Aftercare

We give advice, note common side effects, and update your GP record where required. We can remind you next season.

Why get the flu vaccine?

Protect yourself from serious illness

The flu vaccine cuts your risk of severe flu and hospital admission. UKHSA estimates it prevented around 96,000 to 120,200 hospitalisations in England last winter

Protect people around you

By lowering your chance of catching and passing on flu, you help shield babies, older adults, pregnant people, and those with long-term conditions.

Stay up to date each season

Flu strains change and protection fades, so you need the updated jab every year. The programme is refreshed each autumn with current vaccines.

Frequently asked questions

Is the NHS flu vaccine free?

Yes, if you are eligible. If you usually pay NHS prescription charges, that does not apply here. The flu jab itself is free for eligible groups.

Can I get my child vaccinated at the pharmacy?

Yes. Children aged 2 and 3 can now receive their NHS flu vaccine at participating pharmacies. School-age children are usually vaccinated at school.

Is the vaccine safe if I am pregnant?

Yes. Pregnant people are a priority group and can often be vaccinated from September.

I had the flu jab last year, do I need it again?

Yes. Strains change and protection wanes, so you need the updated vaccine each season.

What side effects might I get?

Adults may get a sore arm, mild fever, or aches for a day or two. The child nasal spray can cause a runny or blocked nose. Serious reactions are rare.

Do you vaccinate off-site?

We follow the NHS service spec. Off-site vaccination needs commissioner permission this season. Ask us if you have a group booking request.
