Otomize Ear Spray
About this product

Outer ear infections strike hard. Water, sweat, or dirt gets trapped in your ear canal. Bugs breed in the dark. The skin swells up, itches wildly, and throbs with a heavy ache. We often call it "swimmer's ear."

How to use
  • You spray the medicine straight into the ear. You do not need to lie down and wait like you do with heavy drops.

Wash your hands. Shake the bottle well. If you open a new bottle, press the pump down a few times into the air until a fine mist sprays out.

Place the tip of the nozzle gently against the opening of your ear hole. Do not shove it deep inside. Press the pump down exactly once. That is your dose.

You do this three times a day.

You must follow this strict rule: Do not stop spraying the moment your ear feels better. The bug hides deep. If you stop too early, the bug wakes back up and fights off the drug. You must keep spraying for two full days after your symptoms go away.

Main Ingredients
  • Each measured dose of Otomize contains: Neomycin sulphate (3250 IU/ml), Dexamethasone (0.1% w/w), and Glacial acetic acid (2.0% w/w).

Side Effects & Cautions
Side Effects:
  • Because Otomize is applied locally to the ear, very little of the medication is absorbed into your bloodstream. This means systemic side effects are incredibly rare. However, as with any topical medication, your ear may react slightly as it adjusts to the treatment. You may experience:
    • A temporary feeling of mild burning or stinging immediately after spraying.
This sensation is usually brief and should subside quickly. When to contact a clinician: If the stinging is severe, if your ear becomes significantly more swollen and red, or if you develop a new rash around the ear, please stop using the spray and contact our pharmacy team or your GP. This may indicate a localised allergic reaction to one of the ingredients.

    Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are currently breastfeeding, please inform our clinical team. While the medication is applied locally, the general clinical guidance is to avoid using Otomize during pregnancy and breastfeeding unless a healthcare professional determines that the benefits clearly outweigh any potential risks. We can help guide you toward the safest option for your circumstances.

    Alcohol

There are no known interactions between Otomize Ear Spray and alcohol. Because the treatment is localised to your ear, consuming alcohol will not affect how well the medication works.

    Taking Other Medications

Otomize is highly unlikely to interact with any oral medications you take for other health conditions. However, you should not use any other medicated ear drops or sprays at the same time as Otomize, as they can dilute the medication or cause unwanted interactions within the ear canal. Always ensure you list your current medications during your online consultation.
